Golden Retriever Breed Description

History :
Golden Retrievers originated from the Scottish Highlands, where they were used essentially as hunting dogs. The breed was developed across the 19th century in Scotland and ultimately gained acclaim in Britain . In the early 20th century, Goldens were introduced to Northern America.

According to Matthew Cowley, in his article, " Dog Clowns," a fighter is all that's good in a dog. He's "a giggle a minute, lives life to the fullest, a maximum speed version of dog slapstick. But also he is a sympathetic soul, a shoulder to cry on, a confidante." Indeed, fighters are friendly outgoing folk dogs.

 

Breed Profile : Labrador Retriever Dog

History :
Labrador Retrievers, notwithstanding their name, basically came from Newfoundland. The breed was developed from the St. John's Water Dog -- a mixture of Newfoundlands and little water dogs. In the early 19th century, the Duke of Malmesbury developed an interest in the breed and brought them to Britain .
